Artist's Comments

My taekwon-do instructor teaches Hapkido as well, and upon his request I did a series of illustrations and layout for his Hapkido association as well. Better pay for this one, though... yay~

I really love the martial arts posters you do. Very professional. The way you draw the fabric of the gi is very nice.

hey, thanks for stopping by! Actually Hapkido IS Aikido in Korean? sources say that the founder of Hapkido was actually the servant of Sokaku Takeda, teacher of Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu, which the founder of Aikido studied as well... hence the similarities. well the art itself is similar, but with striking and kicking techniques plus pressure point attacks. It's movements are more linear, compared to the flowing circular movements of Aikido. actually i don't study Hapkido? i do Aikido & Taekwon-do... the Hapkido poster was a commissioned piece by my TKD instructor who also teaches Hapkido. :)

thnx for the clarification ... i think i'll watcu some Hapkido training lessons it might help me improve my Aikido ... thnx

Hi, nice of u to drop by~ I'm aware that Hapkido is Korean, but the history I know is probably just scratching the surface~ What I've heard is that GM Choi Yong-sul (servant to Sokaku Takeda) was the one who tutored GM Ji Han Jae in the arts. Perhaps you would like to shed some light further on this topic? :)
